With the expense of food rising and having a family of six we are always looking for ways to save money. We talk about starting a garden every year but it is just something that we never get around to. We decided that this year was going to be the year we did it! We sectioned off a spot in a perfect place that gets lots of sun and out of the way.
We have two dogs so we built a little fence around it, bought some top soil and planted our seeds. Well we just made two rows for each type of plant and laid down the seeds, covered them up and started watering. As everything started to grow in we realized we put everything way too close to each other and will have to take some plants out. The puppy got in and dug up some things so there are a few things that will not grow.
We have planted so many herbs and spices that I am going to have more than I know what to do with. Not only that but I have about 30 tomato plants! What in the world am I going to do with all this stuff, clearly it will be more than my home can eat. I of course will give some to friends, family and neighbors but does anyone have any ideas of what else I can do with them? We definitely learned a lesson for next year of what to do and what not to do!
