German pair Jonas Reckermann and Julius Brink became Europe's first Olympic beach volleyball champions by beating Brazilian top seeds Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti in Thursday's final.
The German duo won a keenly balanced encounter 23-21, 16-21, 16-14 in front of an appreciative crowd at Horse Guards Parade to succeed Americans Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers as Olympic champions.
