Top music manager Manny Halley (Nicki Minaj) has swooped in as the new backer of high-end Chinese restaurant Philippe, known for its Peking duck and bold red-black-and-white color scheme. Its new L.A. incarnation debuts this month at 8620 Wilshire Blvd. near La Cienega. (The previous location on Melrose Avenue has since been taken over by vegan hotspot Crossroads.)

"I've taken full control," he tells THR. Halley, whose favorite Philippe dish is the salt-and-pepper lobster, previously invested in IHOP and Popeye's franchises and says he plans to make Philippe 2.0 an industry player: "We have five different offers to book it Grammy weekend."
The move comes 18 months after chef Philippe Chow lost a lawsuit to Mr Chow's Michael Chow that included charges of false advertising, costing him $1 million in damages.
